The ENL (English as a New Language) or Bilingual endorsement programs prepare licensed teachers to meet the Idaho State Department of Education requirements for an add-on endorsement to your teaching certification. The online program can also be combined with a master’s degree program.
Idaho K-12 Online Teaching Endorsement
In August 2011, the Department of Educational Technology at Boise State University became a state approved K-12 Online Teaching Endorsement program provider in Idaho. This endorsement is a competency-based program and requires students to demonstrate their capabilities of online teaching and learning in meeting recommended proficiencies through a combination of course completions and submitted artifacts.
The online Applied Leadership: Growing into a High-Impact Leader Certificate is a 4-course, 12-credit program designed to provide a variety of leadership skills and perspectives. The purpose of the program is to help students grow into high-impact leaders through an examination of their strengths and areas for improvement as a leader and a follower. Drawing upon theory and evidence, students will enhance their ability to make informed leadership choices for a variety of contexts and challenges.
Bridge to Career – Business
The Online Business Bridge to Career courses will enable you to graduate in your field of study along with a complement of business competencies. This program develops knowledge and skills valued by employers, which will help you translate your major into a career.
The online Design Ethnography Certificate is a 12-credit interdisciplinary and experiential certificate program that helps prepare students for emerging careers in user research, user experience (UX), service design, product design, branding, marketing, and organizational innovation.

The field of special education serves the needs of individuals with disabilities from birth through adulthood in both school and community settings. Many individuals with disabilities experience challenging behaviors that make inclusion in school and community-based settings a challenge. The Boise State Certificate in Behavioral Interventions and Supports will provide training to both current and prospective special education professionals that will enhance their marketability and skill for a variety of positions.
Early Childhood Intervention Services and Supports
The Boise State Certificate in Early Childhood Intervention Services and Supports aligns with qualifications to become a Developmental Specialist. This certificate provides training to prospective early childhood intervention professionals to work in home and community-based settings with infants and toddlers with disabilities and their families.
Early Childhood Special Education
The Graduate Certificate in Early Childhood Special Education is designed for individuals who currently hold a valid Idaho Standard Exceptional Child Certification in conjunction with the Generalist K-12 Endorsement. Completion of this certificate and required Praxis II examinations leads to an institutional recommendation from Boise State to add an Idaho Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE; Pre-K – 3) endorsement. The ECSE endorsement is non-categorical and allows one to teach in any Pre-K special education setting.
Educational Games and Simulations
The Graduate Certificate in Games and Simulations is designed for those who wish to: analyze recent research and best practices for effective teaching and learning with educational games and with simulations in virtual worlds; design, teach, and evaluate teaching and learning activities in virtual worlds; and, design 2D and 3D games for learning and evaluate for educational effectiveness.
This program provides the participant with the skills to facilitate healthcare simulations and to operate and maintain a simulation center using evidence-based teaching methods. Courses are all taught by Certified Healthcare Simulation Educators (CHSE).

The OPWL department offers a graduate program leading to a certificate in Workplace Instructional Design (WIDe). The graduate certificate in WIDe emphasizes the knowledge and skills required to create instructional programs designed to improve employee productivity. The certificate in WIDe is intended for individuals who are interested in designing, developing, and delivering learning programs for business and industry, government agencies, the military, and nonprofit organizations.

The Graduate Certificate in Workplace Performance Improvement is designed for individuals who wish to develop skills in diagnosing and solving performance problems in the workplace. This program emphasizes the practical application of process models, tools, and techniques to workplace performance improvement situations.
